Yesterday Buffy was scheduled for chest x-rays and then her 6th and final chemo treatment. Whether more treatment would follow was dependent upon how she was doing. Unfortunately the x-rays weren’t good. I had been hoping that the chemo had kept the tumor they had found at her 3rd treatment in check but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Not only has that tumor grown but others have appeared as well.
After talking to the oncologist I made the decision not to put her through the discomfort of the final chemo treatment. Now I’ll look at ways to boost her immune system through diet and concentrate on keeping her healthy and active for as long as possible.
I don’t know if we have weeks or months but as long as she is happy it doesn’t matter. At least we’ve had an extra 5 months so far with her that we wouldn’t have had if we had not made the decision to help her fight it.
She’s still eating well, going for walks and keeping Odin in line – so all still good. Every morning she gets up ready for a walk is the start of another day we’ve won.

Buffy, you are just about the sweetest looking girl in the landp. Such a lovely photo!
So you were tired of getting anymore chemo, huh? I think you made that point loud and clear!
Buffy, you and your mom have such a great attitude and I’m so glad you are feeling strong and keeping Odinin check.
You are so right to stay focused on the present and the joy of being together. Buffy clearly isn’t worried about any old Xrays and has no intention of going anywhere anytime soon!!
Each day on this journey is, indeed a gift. I know Buffy is getting loved and spoiled and all the treats a magnificent pup could want
Check out some of the links on the site for nutrition and supplements, etc. Many dogs have continued living a great quality life for quite awhile even with lung mets.
Keep on keeping on Buffy! I salute you and your pawparents for showing us all the bliss of living in the moment and focusing on what’s good!
I think since you are so photogenic, we need to see more pictures! PLEASE, PLEASE, MORE PICTURES!! WE WANT BUFFY PICS—-and you can even include Odin too!!
Surrounding you with many more wagging tail memories,
Sally and Happy Hannah

Thank you Sally and Happy Hannah,
I certainly will be going through the site looking for nutrition and supplement info. That is on my to-do list for tomorrow afternoon after I’ve taken them for nice Sunday joyride. I will keep posting updates and there will be more photos.
Tripawds is a wealth of information and inspiration.
Merilyn and Buffy.

I’m sorry to hear those darn x-rays didn’t offer better results. But your attitude isa awesome: she’s feeling great, so we’ll keep that going for awhile longer. Buffy is a brave girl, and I know she’s strong enough to fight! Hang in there Buffy! You are a Warrior Princess!!

Gorgeous Buffy, I know this wasn’t easy news and I am very sorry. But a lot of times the statistics and the “prognosis” can be wrong, like they were with Sassy Sugar Bear. Have you seen her story? She’s had mets for three months and is doing great, and I had mine for 7 and we know one dog who lived for two years with mets! So I’m sending all my love and best wishes that you get to enjoy just as much time and more.
We love you Buffy. Keep on lovin’ life like always!

Thank you for your kind words everyone. I have just organized today for Buffy to start the K9 plus and other supplements which should arrive by Wednesday. I’m hoping they’ll keep her feeling great for a while yet.

Hi Buffy & Buffy’s mom.
As Rene (Jerry) has mentioned just because there are mets doesn’t mean we can’t live a long time. Sassy was diagnosed March 1. We are 4 months with mets and doing metronomic protocol. Sassy is doing great. I am giving the apocaps and the metronomics, plus vitamins. Sassy used to eat salmon oil but now is a little more picky with food but other than that does great. We have our bad days when its really hot & humid. Makes it a little harder to breath. But she still chases squirrels, sings (she has musical toys she sings too) and try to chase deer. Even barks at them when we go for rides around the lake. Take one day at a time and love Buffy and spoil her. Thats my best advice 🙂

So sorry that the xrays didn’t show better news. Enjoy every day, and I hope Buffy has many more to come. She sure is a fighter and a beautiful girl. Sending you all good thoughts for lots of good time and lots of morning walks to come.
